"Hunkered down" with Isaac

That term cracks me up, but I kinda like sayin it...

We are most certainly "hunkered down" and it looks like we will be for quite a bit. We have been out of power for the last 5 hours and there isn't much relief in sight. Isaac is moving at a snails pace and Cleco wont get out for repairs until the winds drop below 35mph.  We have a small generator keeping our refrigerator going and a few appliances at our disposal. Right now, the modem is the item of choice. Despite the heat and cabin fever all is well. Hearing about the tragedies occurring in other parts of the parish helps to maintain perspective

We got out for a little bit yesterday before the bad weather made it here.

Anchored in Christ

The Lord blessed me with some time away this past weekend with some precious friends. We had the privilege of attending an amazing conference that focused on our hope in Christ.  God really opened my eyes to some sin in my life in regard to misplaced hope. I can often allow myself to place my hopes in myself...my best efforts, my planning, my parenting... and as we were reminded....misplaced hopes always result in despair. I walked away from the weekend refreshed, refocused and feeling more secure in my identity and hope in Christ.

Here are a few pics from this wonderful weekend.

"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy,he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,  to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you,  who by God's power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.  In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials,  so that the tested genuineness of your faith—more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested byfire—may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.  Though you have not seen him, you love him. Though you do not now see him, you believe in him and rejoice with joy that is inexpressible and filled with glory, obtaining the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls."

Giving myself a little grace

Ok.
So evidently I have a problem with consistency when it comes to using blogger. But rather than avoiding it for fear of future inconsistency.... I am giving myself grace and picking it up again.
Who knows for how long...but a few posts are better than none.
We started our school schedule officially last week which was awesome.  It felt good to have a routine again and things went smoothly for the most part. I took a few sweet pics of my babies ....who are not so much babies anymore :(

Here is to new beginnings....

If momma doesn't feel well.....

.....life carries on! Ok, a tiny bump in the road. Mom woke up sick today. I think it is just a general bug...achey, tired...feel like I got hit by something. Anyway, it has been a great morning. The up front work of the schedule that we have in place is so worth it and today it has proven so even more. I am basically useless today as far as "normal" school is concerned. Yet, as I sit here, Wesley is working on his phonics and Isabel is doing math. Wes has had a few questions and Isabel has stopped what she is doing to answer him. So, despite a day of being under the weather...life and school are moving on.
 I am so thankful. Fruit.

Will You meet us here?

Yes, this a very old song....but the kids and I just love it. They dance in the playroom and watch the video and it is awesome to hear them sing every word. Last night we were watching it again and I realized how pertinent it was to EVERYDAY! We studied Abram a few weeks back and I was struck by how he built an altar to the Lord every time he heard from Him. What if I lived like that?
The kids and I decided we would start our mornings with this song. It fully encompasses what we want from our days. We want The Lord to meet us in this place, we want to praise his name alone....ALL DAY and in all things! These are the things we want our day to revolve around, seeing and praising God in all of our moments.  These are the things eternal.
